   No, tohle je kousek historie evropského undergroundového metalu. Nejsem moc obeznámený s českou metalovou scénou 80. let, ale jsem velký fanoušek středoevropské metalové scény té doby, takže představa kultovní české „klasiky“, takového neobroušeného diamantu, mě okamžitě nadchla. A rozhodně jsem nebyl zklamaný, protože už od prvních sekund úvodní skladby Hra s ďáblem jsem si říkal – kde sakra byli celý můj život?

Ve skutečnosti kapela WOLFRAM funguje už od začátku 80. let v různých sestavách, ale až v polovině 90. let dostali šanci vydat své debutové album Sál času – a jaké to je album! Syrové a thrashové, živý důkaz evropského zvuku poloviny až konce 80. let: skladby postavené na riffech s ostrostí raných thrashových kapel a melodickým cítěním tehdejší metalové scény. Představ si rané RAGE, CROSSFIRE, POKOLGÉP, CUTTY SARK, rané RUNNING WILD, S.D.I. a samozřejmě ACCEPT. Přidej k tomu nádech neoklasických kytarových motivů – a musím říct, že kytarové party, riffy, harmonie i sóla jsou výrazně nadprůměrné. Ve skutečnosti je polovina skladeb instrumentálních, ale rozhodně nepůsobí jako výplň.

Zpěv je také dost výrazný – Pavla Kapitánová (ano, ženský vokál) má velmi specifický, poměrně silný hlas, který mi místy připomněl Juttu Weinhold.

Mezi vrcholy patří titulní skladba Sál času, naprosto FUCKIN’ AMAZING Oheň a meč a instrumentální Vzpoura, ale celé album stojí za poslech.

Tohle pro mě bylo opravdu překvapení. WOLFRAM je jedna z těch kapel, ztracených v mlze času mimo současné trendy, ale když je objevíš, jsou to poklady, které si chceš nechat. Zjistil jsem, že kapela stále funguje, nahrává a koncertuje, takže si určitě poslechnu i jejich další alba. Dejte tomu šanci – nebudete litovat.

    Well, this is a piece of European underground Metal history. I am not really familiar with the 80’s Czech metal scene but I am a huge fan of central European 80’s metal scene, therefore the idea of a cult Czech “classic” rough diamond was an instant boner for me. And I was not proven wrong since from the first seconds of the kick off track Hra S Ďáblem I wondered where have they been all my life?

In fact, WOLFRAM have been around since the early 80’s with one line up or another, but it wasn’t until the mid 90’s till they got the chance to release their debut album Sál Času and what an album it is! Rough and thrashy a vivid testament to the European mid-late 80’s sound: riff driven songs with the edge of early thrash bands and the melodic mindset of the 80’s metal bands: think of early RAGE, CROSSFIRE, POKOLGEP, CUTTY SARK, early RUNNING WILD, S.D.I. and of course ACCEPT. Also add a touch of neoclassical lead themes in the guitar, and I have to mention that guitar parts, riffs, harmonies and solos are way above average. In fact half of the songs are instrumental, yet they are far from being fillers. Vocals are also quite distinctive, Pavla Kapitanova (yes there are female vocals) has a very special voice, quite powerful reminded me of Jutta Weinhold among others.

Highlights include the title track Sál Času, the FUCKIN’ AMAZING Oheň A Meč and the instrumental Vzpoura however the whole album is a must.

This one was quite a surprise for me. WOLFRAM, is one of those bands, lost in the mist of time far from the current trends, but when found they are a treasure worth keeping. I am learning that they still go on today recording and performing, therefore I will definitely check out their other albums. Listen to this one, you will not regret it.
